You might be surprised to learn that the food inTijuana is not so cheap. The prices for food are close to the prices that you will spend to eat out in the USA. There are some pretty good restaurants scattered throughout Zona Centro and Zona Norte. If you're staying in Zona Centro, we suggest you try a Mexican meal at La Placita on Revolution. You can find this restaurant on Revolution between 4th and 3rd. The address is Revolution #961. Also there is a nice Mexican restaurant by Hotel Ticuan called La Terrazza Grill, offering excellent Mexican food. You can find them on the corner of Revolution and 8th. Lastly, Hotel Ticuan, the Grand Hotel, and the Marriot all have excellent restaurants and serve a variety of food. Lastly Zona Rio, Hipodromo, and La Messa are the high rent parts of the city where you can find many top restaurants of all varieties.
We suggest that you stay away from street vendors in Tijuana to avoid getting sick. We understand that when you walk out of a bar you might have the munchies and want a quick snack, but your stomach is probably not prepared for street food in Mexico. There really is no regulation on the street vendors and the food is often times contaminated. The cost for the taxi is only $3 in Zona Norte, so just play it safe. Revolution is a safe street where this is a lot of action and it is monitored heavily by police.
